[CHERUBS AUDIO INTRO]
I’m Jake Lubin. Laundry at home it’s a menial task — You may not even think about it. For cherubs however, the washers and dryers of Jones hall are an epicenter for laundry room manners, forcing cherubs to take a step towards independence.
NIKHIL DANIEL: Part of being respectful is taking your laundry out. And I think if you aren’t there to do it someone can do it for you. My name is Nikhil Daniel. I think if you’re smart and strategic with your laundry timing you’re going to have a fantastic experience. If you’re not so smart you’re gonna have a pretty bad experience.
Busy times also pushed cherub Molly Chodos to do her laundry during the week.
MOLLY CHODOS: The first week I did it on a Sunday, which was really poor judgement. Like Sunday was laundry day, so everybody was doing their laundry. There was a lot of pulling people’s clothes out of the machines. So the second week I did it on a monday and it was a lot less hectic.
Timing wasn’t the only challenge for cherubs washing their clothes. Some were doing their laundry for the very first time.
MOLLY: When I came to cherubs I had no idea how to do laundry, so I had to look to other cherubs to get some help and, you know, really further my laundry education.
Not only is help being shared, but supplies are too.
NIKHIL: I’ve actually contributed to the sharing shelf. I came with some detergent pods, so if you forget to bring detergent, you’re going to be okay.
All in all, Nikhil and Molly found laundry at cherubs to be quite an easy process.
NIKHIL: It was really accessible, incredibly easy and it was free. I thought it was pretty easy to get laundry done here.
