{"id":12210,"date":"2026-07-21T20:31:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T01:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2026\/?p=12210"},"modified":"2026-07-28T17:28:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T22:28:41","slug":"finding-laughter-in-lessons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2026\/07\/finding-laughter-in-lessons\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding laughter in lessons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When cherubs entered Fisk Hall for \u201cAdvanced Interviewing Techniques,\u201d a lecture by instructors Cynthia Wang and Bret Begun, they didn\u2019t expect comedy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was expecting to learn, but I was not expecting to be practically rolling on the floor laughing,\u201d said Shayna Fitzershtein of Glenview, Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Wang and Begun, instructors like John Kupetz and Carlin McCarthy often used humor to engage or entertain students.
