Zoe Romney of San Francisco said nights in the Great Room might start with movies but often ended with \u201cunhinged karaoke.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very fun and very easy to bond with people, just by coming to the Great Room,\u201d Romney said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Room is the large lounge on the first floor of Jones Hall. Students used the room to watch \u2014 and sang along to \u2014 movies like\u00a0 \u201cSing,\u201d \u201cSing 2\u201d and both \u201cM3GAN\u201d films.<\/span><\/p>\n

After days of classes, cherubs gathered in the Great Room to talk, watch television and de-stress, Athan Joshi of Los Altos, California, said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jiayue Zou of McLean, Virginia, enjoyed a Hamilton sing-along in the Great Room because of the feeling of togetherness.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really fun, even though I\u2019m not actually a huge fan of Hamilton, but it was the fact that everyone came together and everyone was singing along and even harmonizing,\u201d Zou said. \u201cIt was actually quite surprising to me, and I really felt like one big family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Joshi said the Great Room was \u201cvery lively\u201d and \u201cvery happy.\u201d He found that the Great Room was a good place to go when struggling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re having a rough day and you have zero words in your trend story and you come to the Great Room, you always find some joy,\u201d Joshi said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Katherine Xu of Wellesley, Massachusetts, one of Romney\u2019s movie-watching friends, said the Great Room was for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen my friends and I were watching movies in the Great Room, a bunch of people would show up and just sit down,\u201d Xu said. \u201cAnd they were obviously welcome, because the Great Room is the only space that is purely just for everyone.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
