{"id":8212,"date":"2025-07-22T20:52:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T20:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2025\/?p=8212"},"modified":"2025-07-30T15:09:36","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T20:09:36","slug":"study-spots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2025\/07\/study-spots\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting deadlines amid the chaos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Propped up on her arm pillow in bed, Abby Stone of Sudbury, Massachusetts, said she did her best work in \u201cthe most comfortable place on campus.\u201d With Justin Bieber playing over the speaker, Stone said she and her roommate \u201cgrinded together and motivated each other.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout the program, cherubs found creative places to meet their deadlines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the quiet University Library provided a traditional study environment, Crystal Zhu of Cupertino, California, found a way to use the dining hall for more than just eating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s nice because you can eat and study and all the noise around you just cancels out,\u201d Zhu said. \u201cIt\u2019s like white noise, so you can lock in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Norris University Center has a variety of seating and food options, and Stone said its convenient location near Fisk Hall gave her a place to work during breaks from classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI can get my strawberry acai and I can work on my article,\u201d Stone said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maia Weissman of Glenview, Illinois also said she valued convenience but found it in more private places, such as in the Jones Hall armchairs, sofas and bean bags that allowed her to \u201crelax and focus on writing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Weissman said the lounges also facilitated collaboration between fellow cherubs.
