Cherubs swarmed into the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion on July 12 for daring jumps from the ten-foot diving board and a volleyball game featuring Program Director Roger Boye.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instructors, the community and academic associates and Boye assembled to compete against a group of cherubs in a volleyball game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CAA Audrey Pachuta said the \u201cintense\u201d game was the \u201chighlight\u201d of her night. Margy Burgoon of Winnetka, Illinois, agreed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really fun to see the instructors in a casual environment,\u201d Burgoon said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boye scored multiple points throughout the volleyball game. As he executed the winning serve, a loud cheer erupted in the gym.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a really exciting moment,\u201d Pachuta said. \u201cI also remember looking over at Nikhil (Daniel) serving on the other end, and he was afraid he was going to hit Roger in the face.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Northwestern\u2019s swimming pool and diving boards were also a popular pastime. Crystal Zhu of Cupertino, California, said she was scared after an initial belly flop, vowing not to visit the boards later.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI never wanted to do that again,\u201d Zhu said. \u201cBut when we walked onto the diving board together, I looked across at my friend, and she jumped first. So I jumped. That was really bonding.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Some cherubs spent the entire night engrossed in one activity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Matilda Haney-Foulds of Mountain View, California, said she was pulled into a two-hour tennis game with friends, dubbing herself the \u201cball destroyer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI sucked at first, and I would just hit the ball really high, but at the end I could hold my own against Dorie (Xie), who plays tennis,\u201d Haney-Foulds said. \u201cI was really sweaty and tired, but it was just so much fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
