{"id":7793,"date":"2025-07-22T21:20:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T21:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2025\/?p=7793"},"modified":"2026-01-18T22:54:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T03:54:23","slug":"new-mediums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cherubs.medill.northwestern.edu\/2025\/07\/new-mediums\/","title":{"rendered":"Transitioning from page to frame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Glennis Woosley of Nixa, Missouri, rose with the sun, wielding a video camera to capture the experiences of the other early risers condemned to Spit List \u2014 the notorious Sunday morning punishment for students who committed infractions during the week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Woosley tried videography her freshman year at high school but said she disliked it. Then she came to the Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute, where instructor Carlin McCarthy\u2019s lecture on video journalism encouraged her to try again, sparking a new passion for the medium that resulted in the Spit List project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through lectures and projects, cherubs explored forms of journalism they may have had little or no experience with, such as audio, broadcast, videography and photography.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019ve always been exclusively a print journalist,\u201d said Leo Beirne of New York.
