It was thanks to his morning runs at the Medill cherub program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWith running, you just end up exploring where you would otherwise never go,\u201d Vellandi said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Because cherubs don\u2019t have access to Northwestern\u2019s gyms, many turn to running \u2014 either before morning classes or before dinner \u2014 as a way to get exercise. But running holds many benefits beyond just a good workout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019d definitely recommend going on a run because it\u2019s an easy way to meet someone new,\u201d Uma Rajan of Haworth, New Jersey, said. \u201cAlso, it\u2019s fun to explore the area because you\u2019re only in Evanston for four weeks, so you might as well try to see all of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The most popular route is an asphalt path that runs parallel to Lake Michigan. It goes for about a mile in either direction and provides tranquil lakeside views.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think the best part is the view,\u201d Rajan said. \u201cI come from a small town in New Jersey where nothing else is really going on, so being alongside the lake\u2026is nice to see.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Running can be an enjoyable reset in a cherub\u2019s busy schedule.
